Chemcraft is delighted with new Wintec machine

CHEMCRAFT of Johannesburg recently installed an additional machine to further up production capacity for the range of chairs and tables it manufactures. The Benoni based business has been using mainly European machines and in this case opted for a Wintec 950-ton machine from Engel, supplied by GreenTech.

The machine which arrived about a year ago, fitted nicely in the production hall and has been churning out products continuously since.

“I haven’t got words for it,” said Chemcraft production manager Graeme Williams, who has been involved in large product moulding (including wheelie bins) for most of his career. The Wintec machine is based on Engel technology minus some of the features of the parent company’s machines. The machines have been  manufactured at the Engel subsidiary in Changzhou, China, since 2013 and are regarded as being economically priced.

Chemcraft manufactures a variety of tables and chairs for schools, public amenities and stadium use as well as multi-purpose chairs. They also bend and cut steel for chair frames and table legs. For their school desks, Chemcraft personnel cut the tops to shape, bevel the edges and coat the surfaces before mounting them to the steel frames.  Chemcraft’s export orders are on the increase; supply is mainly into neighbouring countries.

Chemcraft also operates Sturdi, a sister company, which manufactures extruded corrugated polypropylene sheeting that is converted into boxes for fresh produce, storage containers and filing systems.
