PIMMS Group buys Tego Plastics
PIMMS Group of Johannesburg has recently concluded the purchase of Tego Plastics of Cape Town in one of the biggest transactions of 2025.
Tego was started in 2019 as a venture by KaapAgri to manufacture crates and related containers for the agricultural sector, including a large cubic metre bulk bin. KaapAgri operates over 200 Agrimark outlets around the country and in Namibia, so the plan was for Tego to manufacture crates for the group’s retail outlets. KaapAgri transitioned to KAL Group in 2023 and is determined to exit the manufacturing business, and the purchase by PIMMS Group of the venture is the result of that.
Based in Honeydew in Johannesburg, PIMMS Group is one of the top Gauteng injection moulding businesses with its own toolroom. It has a reputation for the ability to supply large order contracts for big and/or complex mouldings. That skill may suit it for the Tego undertaking.
Tego possesses two of the biggest Tederic injection moulding machines in SA, including 4,500 and 2,700 ton clamp force units in a plant which is reputed to be one of the most advanced in the Western Cape. It operates several complex and very high-value moulds to produce the bulk bins.
PIMMS Group’s acquisition marks its expansion from its existing rigid packaging supply for logistics and retail into the agricultural, wine, aquaculture, and broader materials-handling sectors. The Tego facility will become PIMMS Group’s Cape Town hub, servicing regional customers and supporting export manufacturing for Stanton Global – the Group’s engineering-driven design and development division. Cape Town operations are currently overseen by Anton Silvis and Stephan Bezuidenhout.
PIMMS Group aims to work closely with industry partners to enhance bin and crate performance with a strong focus on durability, sustainability and long-term engineered value.
