Roediger Agencies achieves SANAS accreditation
ROEDIGER AGENCIES, a specialist mechanical testing laboratory based in Stellenbosch, is now accredited by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS). The certification confirms the facility’s compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017, the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories.
SANAS is the only national body responsible for carrying out accreditations in respect of conformity assessment, as mandated through the Accreditation for Conformity Assessment, Calibration and Good Laboratory Practice Act (Act 19 of 2006). This recognition confirms Roediger Agencies’ technical competence, the reliability of its test methods, and the integrity of its quality management system, all of which are critical for the industries it serves.
Founded by Dr Andy Roediger, a polymer chemist with a background in academic research and teaching, the laboratory has steadily expanded its capabilities since its establishment in 1993, when he noticed a lack of dedicated testing services for plastic product analysis. Initially focused on limited analytical methods, the lab has continuously added specialised instrumentation – including gas and liquid chromatographs, thermal analysis systems, weathering testers, and impact testing equipment – in response to growing demand from across South Africa’s manufacturing sectors.
Roediger Agencies has developed a reputation for handling complex and specialised testing projects. Alongside standard compliance testing, it conducts analysis for an array of materials and applications, including polymer formulations, food contact materials, and even niche tests for boxing gloves (of the various polymer foams and synthetic fabric coverings used), percentage content of calcium carbonate, evaluating chocolate contact, and testing for cannabis presence in materials.
SANAS accreditation provides an added layer of assurance. Results from Roediger Agencies can now be confidently submitted in industrial and regulatory settings, and where applicable, as part of legal evidence or product certification processes.
