Trust and a long-standing relationship with ENGEL are at the core of decision-making at Telplast
WHAT drives a company to invest, truly invest, in a supplier’s product? Is it the features? Is it the value proposition, or is it the support and after-sales service received? Before meeting with Christoper Hendriks, factory manager, at Telplast, interviewer Bernadette Taljaard at GreenTech would have agreed that all of these are good reasons for a supplier’s repeat business.
South Africa’s injection moulding machinery market is saturated with options for choosing an electrical injection moulding machine. What was the motivation behind the purchase of yet another ENGEL e-mac?
“It was a foregone conclusion,” Hendriks says. “And I believe Telplast is one of the South African companies that knows best. Since moving away from hydraulic machines, we’ve standardised our operations on the ENGEL e-mac.”
Hendrik’s team manufactures thin-wall containers and lids for dry snuff in different sizes, and he isn’t fazed about monitoring his staff during production: “The CC300 controller logs the history of each instruction or change for machine cycles. Added to this, its energy efficiency and reduced cycle times have been a production game-changer.
“With hydraulic machines, our maximum output per day was only six pallets. We’ve increased this to eight with the e-mac.”
What has increased efficiency meant for your production team?
“We incorporate a break day instead of running a 24-hour operation, affording staff a day off each week,” Hendricks notes.
Clearly, ENGEL and GreenTech Machinery have won the trust and loyalty of Telplast: “We only allow qualified ENGEL technicians to service our e-macs, and we have no issues with turnaround times,” Hendricks concludes.
