PU ‘flooding’ for parts with high-quality surface finish
POLYURETHANE ‘flooding’, a new technology from Engel, involves applying a polyurethane layer directly in the mould for the production of parts with a high-quality surface finish that are immediately ready for use.
This technology – also known as ‘in-mould painting’ or Engel clearmelt – speeds up production and increases efficiency while also enhancing the durability of parts against mechanical and chemical stress, resulting in longer product lifespans. It is especially beneficial for applications with high demands on surface quality, such as in the automotive industry. Produced parts also achieve higher scratch resistance, depth effect and improved elongation strength.
