20 years of excellence in injection moulding for Plastique
FOR THE past two decades, Plastique Injection Moulders has proudly served the plastic manufacturing industry with precision, passion and professionalism. The Benoni-based business has built a reputation as a trusted partner in both the development and manufacturing of plastic components across a wide range of sectors — including electrical, lighting, swimming pool, water filtration, construction, electronics, housewares, closures and consumer products.
This is the story of a married couple whose paths not only crossed in life but also in business — both deeply rooted in the world of plastics.
Andrew Goodchild-Brown began his career working as the workshop factory manager at a plastic injection moulding company in Springs. Andrew thrived in the fast-paced, hands-on environment. He loved the technical challenges and the sense of accomplishment that came from turning raw plastic into precise, high-quality parts. As time passed, so did the spark of ambition. He began to dream about starting something of his own.
At home, that dream met someone who not only believed in it — but understood the industry from a completely different angle. Gillian Goodchild-Brown, Andrew’s wife, was an Accounts Finance Executive at Investec for business. Her role? Structuring and securing finance for machinery — particularly in the plastic industry. With nearly a decade of experience under her belt, she had a strong grasp of the financial and operational sides of running a successful manufacturing business.
Together, they were the perfect team.
In a bold move that would shape their future, they decided to purchase their first machine — a VICTOR 140 TON injection moulder. With Gillian’s expertise and solid standing at Investec, she was able to arrange the financing for the equipment. That first step laid the foundation for their own company — born out of passion, planning, and perseverance.
It wasn’t an overnight success. The couple built their business slowly and intentionally, adding just one new machine at a time. Their approach was steady, grounded in financial discipline and a shared vision. With each addition, they grew their capabilities and expanded their client base, staying true to the principles that brought them together in the first place.
Plastique Injection Moulders manufactures plastic components in-house and runs production in its modern, high-tech injection moulding facility, doing both custom moulding and manufacturing its own line of parts. Twenty years later, that single machine has turned into a fleet of ten (ranging from 60 to 180 tons) — each one financed through Investec, a quiet testament to Gillian’s longstanding professional reputation and their trust in sustainable growth. Every component is carefully monitored by the company’s full-time quality management system, ensuring that high standards are consistently met and exceeded.
“What sets us apart is our end-to-end service. We don’t just mould plastic — we bring ideas to life. From the initial concept and product design to selecting the right materials, colours, and packaging, we’re with you every step of the way,” said manager Gillian Goodchild-Brown.
Plastique has also installed a solar-powered system, minimising production interruptions and ensuring consistent turnaround times.
“Sustainability matters to us. That’s why we offer re-granulation facilities to minimise plastic waste and reduce our environmental impact,” explained Gillian.
But beyond the machinery and processes, Plastique Injection Moulders believes that its staff and management make the company exceptional. Backed by their loyal staff, some of whom have been with the company since inception, and the strong management provided by Andrew and Gillian, Plastique asserts that they are proud to deliver quality, reliability and innovation — every step of the way.
Behind every machine, every client order, and every product that rolls off their production line is a story of commitment — not just to their business, but to each other.
“Whether you’re launching a new product or looking for a reliable manufacturing partner, you can count on us to deliver quality, consistency, and innovation — every time,” added Gillian.
